About Panchang
Panchang is a Hindu calendar and almanac, which follows traditional units of Hindu timekeeping, and presents important dates and their calculations in a tabulated form. It is sometimes spelled Panchanga, Panchānga, Pancanga, or Panchāngam.
The word “Panchang” comes from Sanskrit and means “five limbs” referring to the five aspects of the calendar: Tithi (lunar day), Vara (weekday), Nakshatra (lunar mansion), Yoga, and Karana.
How to Use Panchang
Check daily Tithi, Nakshatra, Yoga, and Karana for personal activities
Plan auspicious events like weddings, house-warming, etc. using Muhurat timings
Track festivals and religious observances
Avoid inauspicious times like Rahu Kaal for important activities
Use for agricultural planning based on lunar calendar
